Next Day

It was the day after thanksgiving, and gun toting pickup trucks blanketed green gates like a bee swarm.

But, it was such a gloriously cloudy and brisk morning, I went to the grasslands anyway.

It was an authentic mixed terrain ride, but it seems I didn't see anything interesting enough along the pavement sections to document.

The delightfully subtle colors of a north Texas fall got all my attention.

I stopped several times to simply notice no bug swarms, noise, or profuse sweating.

Actually, I had a variety of reasons to stop and enjoy being outside.

How about that textured grey sky to make the thousand shades of brown glow gold?

A mystic can lose sense of time out here. Fortunately, I suppose, being out of coffee brings me back to the moment.

The lack of bugs is one of my favourite things about late fall thru early spring riding, and too often I take it for granted. The bugs are never TOO bad here, but still a nuisance as mosquitos seem to especially like me.

I love the photo of the lichen and such on the branch - never seen such bright orange! I have only noticed the silvery coloured stuff here.

Yeah, because it rarely stays very cold for very long, fall and winter are often a wonderful time to be outside. The tiny spark of color on that branch seized my eye for sure. We don’t have massive walls of knock-you-down-color. We have little specks hidden here and there and discovery makes them more precious.

I approve of that road.

…because, hey, barely roads are still roads….probably the best roads.
