Wasn’t Born to Follow

I felt like a rebel today. I'm not sure why. Maybe because I rode my bike on a weekday. Maybe because I avoided social activity for 5 hours. Maybe because I don't act my age.

I missed two work meetings that my colleagues probably preferred that I lead or take an active role in. But my mind was somewhere else, like these lyrics from the 1968 Byrds song "Wasn't Born to Follow"...

No I'd rather go and journeyWhere the diamond crescent's glowingAnd run across the valleyBeneath the sacred mountainAnd wander through the forestWhere the trees have leaves of prismsAnd break the light in colorsThat no one knows the names of

 

It's a bumpy road, out here on society's margin, but it's so pretty!
