I said farewell to instagram today.
It was an agonizing decision I've been pondering for months. The app spews forth so many ads and so much suggested content that it has become more distraction than social. I don't want to lose track of so many great friends and I'll try to find a way to check in with them outside the app. I hope my relationship with a few will be worth a step for them beyond scrolling. If that is too inconvenient, I completely understand.
This new platform allows me to create my content on my own terms. Even better, people have a choice about whether to visit. If they do, I want them to feel welcome.

Thanks for the encouragement!
I’ve been in the same situation with IG. Might do the same soon. Cheers my friend!
Thanks for reaching out! Let me know if you make the scary switch!
Nice blog, Chris. I may follow your lead.
Thanks, Myles! It’s been fascinating how many folks have said that. There seems to be a growing frustration out there. I’ve responded to IG surveys saying I’d pay a subscription to avoid ads and their suggestions. But here I am paying for an ad free website instead. I’ll be checking in on your feed incase you make the big announcement. Cheers!
Right decision.
Thank you for the affirmation. It feels a little like walking away from friends, so I’m going to make an effort to stay engaged in other ways.
