It isn't easy to build some fitness after months of riding with no real objective. Well, during the summer, there is an objective, but its only short rides, very early.
I raged curses at the sun
prophecies of cool fronts
and the death of DST
But the fireball laughed
and mocked my sweaty face
while I crumpled in the shade
But now, I hear Fall is coming. I have a trip to northern New Mexico planned for late October that requires climbing at altitude. So it is time to make preparations.

Now the plan is to ride more days per week, carry a simulated bikepacking load, more hours in the saddle, and more elevation gain. That's the basic structure...practice. I have no mountains...no oxygen depleted air, but I'll do what I can with the small hills available.
