Sandals in January

This is mainly a post to share a YouTube video of my overnighter. But it is also an example of why I love Texas winter.

Here in January, I was able to ride out to my campsite wearing shorts, t-shirt, and sandals. It wasn't blazing hot like summer, so this attire was actually comfortable.

Temps dropped to the mid-40s overnight and I was able to leave the rainfly and mesh door open (no bugs!) to enjoy sleeping in the cool air. A few extra layers were required to start my return trip.

Still, I had to peel those extra layers off before I made it back home.

Maybe you'll be slightly amused by the more detailed video account.

Sitting here in the mist of a headcold, trying to endure a cold damp upstate NY winter, your images are most welcome

Sorry to hear about the head cold! I was just coming out of one myself, and wasn’t quite back to full strength. So what I was slower than slow! Overnighters are still fun.
