A swept-back handlebar mood overtook me. It's been a fairly long while since a had a bike with anything besides drop bars or flat bars with minimal sweep.
On the Chumba, my nice Doom ti bar was swapped for a Jones Loop bar I originally had on Calvin. Because I knew it would provide a more upright riding position, I expected it to be more comfortable in some conditions.
The test ride was today. I took the bike to my local trails and tried some chunk and standing climbs. Before the test, I was concerned about the bars being closer to my body and it might hinder bike handling. What I wasn't expecting was how quickly I adapted.
What was even more unexpected is how I began to see visions of myself riding this bike in New Mexico in May. The original plan was to take the Meriwether, but inspiration flowing out of today's ride was not expected at all.

Looks good on the bike. I've gotten to the point where I can't ride any straight bar.
Was it the too-forward position, the wrist angle, pressure points on the hands, or something else? For me, the straight bar is manageable, but each of these things contributed to the experiment. Another unexpected outcome was how relaxed my shoulders were. Thanks for checking in!
It's the wrist angle. I'm more comfortable with some sweep.
Yeah, agree, I'm all about comfort these days.
