This is the time of year I truly value my part time work schedule. These are the kind of days that make it seem like 40+ years of working full time finally paid off.
Here, on a Thursday, I can be outside. I have that "school's out for summer" feeling every week.
Because there are more days to be outside, I feel like I don't need to maximize the number of miles on every ride. I can simply use some of these days to just flow from moment to moment.
On this Thursday, I just rambled around in the State Park. There was no planned route. Unconsciously, I knew I'd visit my favorite spots, but in no particular order. The only plan was to brew coffee, and use the stop to attempt to set up my tent's rainfly like a tarp, without the inner floor and bug net.
For some reason I had it in my mind that the rainfly attached to, and was dependent on, the tent main body. But today I learned that, as long as I have the accessory ground sheet I bought, I can easily set up the rainfly in "tarp mode". And that is just the kind of experimentation and discovery I think Thursdays are for.
